The Cube and entertainment center, powered by Five Point Valencia, hosted its Skate and Scare event on Saturday afternoon.
The event featured a costume contest with categories for scariest, most creative, and best kids’ costume. Winners were announced rink-side during the public skate session.
“We just wanted to bring a festive gathering here at the cube, but we also found it a great excuse for parents to use the costumes that they paid good money for. And just have the kids come and share the holidays with us, because typically a lot of people and kids are out on actual Halloween, so it was a way to bring more of the festivities earlier in the month as well,” said Katie Terena, the event coordinator.
Organizers say the event, like this, helps connect families and highlights what the cube has to offer.
“I really think it’s important for local families to have these types of events just to bring the community together. We want everybody to come here, get to know everybody, see the different programs that we have here, because there are so many different activities like team sports and group classes where all these kids are able to make new friends and just different activities,” Terena said.
Many who attended said they came out simply to enjoy the experience and spend time with friends and family.
“I think it’s such a fun thing to do. I think it’s kind of like, you kind of forget to be kids sometimes, and this brings back the joy and fun,” said Stiin Hilbers, an attendee.
The Cube plans to continue hosting seasonal family events throughout the year.
