As the season gets underway, the College of the Canyons Track Team is already putting in the work day in and day out. From sprints to hurdles, every athlete has a role.
Track season may have just kicked off, but school record leader Antonio Moore is already looking to break his previous record.
“I broke the school record, and it wasn’t my best race,” said Moore.
“I know I got a lot more improvement and I’m going to break my own record again, I’m running my PR consistently, and it feels like a jog, so I think I am ready to run.”
“However, Moore isn’t the only one trying to reach a new record; Hazel Rhodes believes she can too. She gives us a deeper perspective about why and what motivates her to do so.”
“I am a 400-meter runner,” said Rhodes.
“I am the state champ of the 400-meter, and I am also the record holder here at COC for the 400.”
“Running fast is like my favorite thing ever, it makes me feel good to do my best every time and to get to work hard to get to where I wanna be.”
Whether it’s breaking personal records or competing for first place, one thing is clear, and it’s that this team is not slowing down anytime soon.
