As temperatures soared over the weekend, people hit the beach — and some even ditched their cars for the bus, the beach bus that is.

“The convenience, the price, it’s relaxing and it’s a beautiful drive,” says Patti Rundberg, a passenger on the beach bus.

About an hour’s drive down Route 126, the bus drops you off at Ventura Harbor.

“It’s like a different route its not just a lane, a lane, a lane, a lane it’s a little different,” says Diana Ford, a bus driver.

Once there, you can hit the waves or play in the sand at Harbor Cove Beach or explore the Channel Islands National Park Visitor Center.

Or just soak in the scenery and enjoy live music — all without the hassle of driving home.

“We drove here because we are going to do the Ventura wine walk event. We figured we don’t have to drive,” says Emily Fry, a passenger. “We don’t have to worry about drinking, driving, or cruising down. We brought games to play. It’s going to be great!”

“Usually in the afternoon the people is tired so they just get in the bus, just fall asleep,” says Ford.

The City of Santa Clarita’s Beach Bus rolls out every Saturday and Sunday now through August 31st!
