In Santa Clarita, Island Pacific Market hosted a Lumpia Eating Contest brought to life by SoCal Filipinos, celebrating food, culture, and a little friendly rivalry.

Crispy, golden, and impossible to eat just one, lumpia isn’t just a snack; it’s a Filipino favorite. And today, the community is putting their love for this crunchy classic to the test in a lumpia-eating showdown.

But for one competitor, this was more than just a food fight. Meet Bear Caudillo, a professional eater who doesn’t just enjoy food. He devours it in the professional division.

Today, Bear claimed victory, eating 26 lumpia.

“My parents would always stand in amazement of how fast I could finish food. I would always ask for seconds, thirds, fourths, fifths,” said competitive eater Bear Caudillo.

His passion for competitive eating goes beyond just stuffing his face. For Caudillo, it’s about the crowd’s thrill and the moment’s rush.

“I love the crowd participation. I say that’s like the first sip of soda. I’m like, ‘Ooh, I’m awake! You know?'” said Caudillo.

At the end of the day, the event wasn’t just about eating; it was about celebrating community and culture through food.

From big bites to big wins, this lumpia contest leaves behind full bellies and special memories.
