With business being affected during the stay at home order one local shop is having a hard time staying afloat. For a local business owner, Greg Stoddard COVID-19 has altered how his novelty soda pop shop operates.

Unlike the average candy shop, Rocketfizz is known for having an assortment of vintage packaged candy and soda pop. The atmosphere of the shops feels like taking a trip back in time.

Before the pandemic struck local business Stoddard’s shop Rocketfizz had recently moved from the Westfield mall to their new location in Old Town Newhall.

“Business before was good and increasing as more people discovered we had moved from the mall area to Old Town Newhall”  says owner Greg Stoddard

Although with the recent pandemic shaking the small business foundation there has been less foot traffic in local shopping centers. Rocketfizz has been adapting business with the hopes of increasing sales.

“We have transitioned to doing some sales online, through our Facebook and Instagram pages, and started offering delivery and curbside pick-up.” said  RocketFizz owner Greg Stoddard

Rocketfizz has new modified hours inplace since the stay at home regulations. Sales have been few and far between since COVID-19.

“We are open 11-7 Tuesdays-Saturday, closed Sunday & Monday, we change hours since COVID-19 protocols were enacted.  We use to be open 7 days a week and longer hours” say owner Greg Stoddard

Although these recent times have been unforeseen Stoddard has been there to provide service to the community that he’s grown up with. Stoddard gives a positive message to everyone during this time in quarantine.

“Our message to the community is to hang in there and keep yourself and your loved ones safe.  While it is difficult this will pass.” stated business owner Greg Stoddard.
