Sheila is on a mission, and that mission is to give back every month, three times a week. Community organizer Sheila Preston, who is also a minister, travels miles to make a difference by fulfilling wishes and saving lives.
“I’m just so appreciative of the life that I have and how I’ve been blessed. You know, so for me, I’ve always wanted to give back,” said Preston,
Sheila sought out ways to help connect local restaurants and those with food insecurity.
“For us, it’s really important because the food gets to use,” said Emily Sol, a local KFC Manager.
Restaurants like KFC are excited to know that their extra food helps families, especially children.
“They get so happy when they see a bag of chicken or nuggets or biscuits that they’re not able to purchase but can eat,” continued Sol.
In 2023, over 18 million households across America were food insecure, so these partnerships with these restaurants are a wonderful opportunity for them to give back.
Sheila knows what sparks her drive.
“I just wish I really could impact the community of some of Santa Clarita people think that we don’t have a homeless situation because they’re hidden,” said Preston.
Sheila collects for many local restaurants and delivers to organizations like Bridge to Home, which provides meals to those in need.
“Bringing this food could definitely make a difference, but also making the difference as far as treating them with dignity.” continued Preston.
Treating each other with dignity is something that Sheila Preston hopes that we all strive to do.
