A person peers through a large telescope on a tripod during an evening outdoor event, while another person stands nearby watching. In the background, small groups gather under lights outside a building, suggesting a nighttime stargazing or community event.

The Star Party is right around the corner. This biannual event has been a staple of the Canyon Country Campus for almost 20 years.

“This is a staple event of Canyon Country Campus now,” said Joanna Kelly, College of the Canyons Student Services Coordinator.

“They know it happens once in fall, once in spring.”

Whether you’re interested in the many STEM activities or are interested in what this year’s guest speaker has to say, the Star Party is for you.

“There are so many topics, and what I chose in the end was the life of a star, because stars, like humans, while there are some very similar traits, every star is unique, just like every human is unique,” said Teresa Ciardi, Professor of Astronomy and Physical Science at College of the Canyons and a guest speaker at the event.

“I wanted to really talk about that, Parallel of appreciating every unique human like we appreciate every unique star that we find out there in space.”

The event is scheduled from 6:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Friday, the 24th. Make sure you have a plan for arrival and departure if you plan on seeing the stars.
