Support was heartfelt this past Saturday at the Child and Family Center. The community came together to raise awareness and money for domestic violence survivors and the life-changing services provided by the center.

Participants walked a 5k filled with inspirational quotes and statistics.

“It’s such a community event,” said Nikki Bucksterad, CEO of The Child and Family Center.

“You’ll see that we have a lot of our community partners here supporting us. We have Subaru, whose car is behind me,” said Bucksterad.

“They sponsored this event, but really, it’s to help empower and provide resources to those who are experiencing domestic violence, whether they’re in the midst of it or they’re survivors of it,” added Bucksterad.

Hello. Subaru has been sponsoring this event for the past two years, as this company recognizes the significance of raising awareness around this important issue.

“Domestic violence is everywhere, and it shouldn’t be anywhere at all,” said Amiee Fishwick, a Subaru correspondent.

“Our company finds it very important to support all those in need, no matter what their issue is or whatever they’re facing in their lives,” said Fishwick.

“A lot of people are really scared to talk about it, or they feel alone or uncomfortable, and events like this bring awareness,” Cristy Collins-Paker, a Child and Welfare Center Board Member.

Survivors may feel alone when confronting these challenges, so it is essential that they understand that there are people to support them.

This event is significant to the faculty and staff of the Child and Family Center, especially since many people may not fully understand the complexities surrounding this topic.
