A woman was killed Sunday morning after being struck by a sweeper truck in Valencia, officials confirmed.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department received a 911 call at 12:16 a.m. reporting a pedestrian stuck by a vehicle near Rye Canyon Road and Avenue Crocker, Supervising Fire Dispatcher Miguel Ornelas confirmed.

Because the crash occurred within Santa Clarita city limits, units from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station also responded.

It was determined a woman walking a bike on the side of the road was struck by the sweeper truck near the intersection, Lt. Andrew Dahring confirmed.

At least one person was transported to the hospital but later died due to injuries sustained in the collision officials confirmed.

Fire crews were committed to the call for about 56 minutes. The crash in under investigation by the sheriff’s station’s traffic section.

No additional information was available.
