Jake Schwartz isn’t your average ballplayer. He hits, he plays first base, and he closes games on the side for the Cougars.

“I look at it like I’m a position player first and then pitching so I don’t do anything crazy on the pitching side, but when I go warm up, I take it serious and make sure everything’s right and feeling good. For when I go out there.” Said Schwartz.

There is a reason two way players are a rarity. The amount of work that is required and the perseverance needed is substantial. “I mean, it’s never over even if you don’t throw the hardest you still get kind of nasty stuff and keep going like I never do the hardest in high school but as long as you’re throwing strikes pounding the zone you’ll be fine you’ll you’ll get through it and then just hit keep hitting like no matter what like if someone says you can’t hit keep going like no matter what you got it.” Said Schwartz
